Welcome to Studio 202! 

I’m MJ, and I’ll be your artist today!  I just wanted to introduce myself before we get started with your service.

A quick history

I began my career in the beauty world in Hartford, CT way back in 1992 working with an amazing line, iNatural Cosmetics. From there, I relocated to California where I was blessed to begin working with a fantastic assortment of product lines, photographers, production staff and advertising companies as a full-time makeup artist.

I took a break from the world of beauty to have an amazing family and focus on other interests for a few years, until I found myself relocating, once again to the beauty of the Okanagan. Here in Kelowna, I decided to return to my first career love, the beauty industry.

I have spent the past six years meeting some of the most wonderful professionals and clients that Kelowna has to offer.  I also discovered a passion for Lashes!  First at Society The Salon as lead esthetician and Lash Artist, where I was able to grow into my new passion, later opening my own space where I’ve been able to train extensively in advanced techniques to build my skills and expand my services. 

In 2018, I was fortunate enough to place 3rd in one of Canada’s leading lash competitions. Hosted by Angel Wings Beauty – The Catfight Championship accepts submissions from around the globe.  I’m honored to be counted among those fabulous artists.  

Studio 202 Esthetics was originally created to be a relaxing space where I get to help new friends with their skin care goals, add some funky flair to their nails or allow them to have a nice nap while I transform their lashes. 

What’s different today?

Today, Studio 202 focuses exclusively on Lash and Brow Enhancements and Waxing. While my love of skin care will never die and I will always offer skin care advice if you ask, my love for lashes has overtaken most of my career and I couldn’t be happier!

I opened Studio 202 Esthetics from my home because I wanted to be able to have a one on one experience with each client without the distractions of a busy salon.  No phones or random voices to jolt someone out of the peaceful lash nap.  No random knocks on the door to interrupt a waxing appointment.  No feeling like you want to cringe as you overhear someone else’s conversation. Or any of the other little things that many don’t enjoy from a regular salon or spa atmosphere. 

Here, I can play the music, audiobook or podcast you’d prefer during your appointment or you can shut out the world, enjoy a lash nap and wake up with a fantastic new flutter to your beautiful eyes! I am also honored to be the educator for Studio 202 Academy. The premiere training center for Sinful Lashes brand Lash Extension courses in Canada. After over 2 years of teaching lash courses in the Okanagan, I have found a brand and philosophy that matches my own.  Focused on safe, healthy lashing with luxury products; Sinful Lashes products are exclusively used both in my studio and in my trainings.  Please feel free to visit my student’s portal for more information about Sinful Lashes course availability.
